An energy-performance certificate is a document that gives an overview of the actual energy consumption of a building – how much energy it uses for heating, electricity, heating water, etc.
When selling or renting a property, the energy-performance certificate is mandatory if the buyer or lessee so requests. An energy-performance certificate is also required when applying for renovation grants.

The energy-performance certificate defines the energy class of the building from A to G. The more higher your energy class (such as A or B), the lower your energy expenditure.
The energy-performance certificate remains valid for 10 years.
